If Macworld.co.uk Can Use Hidden Text Why Can’t We All
I was looking through apple.com at the new iphone and followed a link to http://www.macworld.co.uk/mac/news/index.cfm?RSS&NewsID=21914 . As the page was loading I noticed some text in the upper left hand corner that linked to the “main content area” which was just a little ways down the page. I didn’t think anything of it until I noticed a black gradient background showed up, which rendered the link to be hidden from sight. Looking at the link more I noticed that it didn’t really have keywords in it and didn’t give any advantage to the page from and SEO standpoint, so why do it? Is it purely for cosmetic reasons?
So the questions is:
1. Is it ok to hide links as long as they are just jump links to other portions of the same url?
